Art From the Inside (AFTI) is a nonprofit that empowers incarcerated artists to experience healing and transformation through creative expression. They wanted their website to be easier for visitors to purchase art, read participant stories, and promote upcoming events. With a large and growing art collection, they needed a clear layout that brought the art front and center while compelling visitors to connect with their mission.
We designed a site that tells AFTI’s story with visual impact, showcases exhibitions, and celebrates each artist through dedicated profiles. The online store was redesigned so visitors can easily browse by artist, type, price, and more. The result was a refreshed site that made it easy to engage with AFTI’s work—amplifying artists’ voices and inspiring action for justice.

A new homepage slideshow features artwork with full artist credits, putting the artists and their work front and center.
The About page now brings together AFTI’s origin, mission, and vision, along with news features and team bios that celebrate the people driving the work behind the scenes.
Using custom CSS and JavaScript, we added advanced search, filters, and sorting so visitors can browse by exhibition, artist, art type, price, and availability. On the backend, we reorganized artist names, removed duplicates, and set up Squarespace shipping profiles and frame add-ons for smoother transactions.
The redesigned Support page clearly outlines ways to donate and volunteer, while spotlighting the partners, grantmakers, and community members who sustain AFTI’s mission.
Mimi's communication skills and responsive nature made our website re-design such a positive and smooth process. The quality of work was outstanding and her design eye has made our website very engaging to the eye and pulls people in to learn more about our organization.
